Local Whitetails Unlimited Chapter Helps Local Archery Programs

Pictured from left: Russ Howard (MCAC coach), Kevin Quinn (President of Whitetails Unlimited) and Mike Thomas (CHS Archery coach).

Whitetails Unlimited President Kevin Quinn presented both the Marshall County Archery Team (serving JMHS, MMS and SMS) and the Cameron High Archery Team with checks for $1,000 at the county’s archery tournament recently.

Coach Howard of the Marshall County Archery Team is grateful for the donations as they directly help the students.  “Donations like these allow us to attend more tournaments.  The more the students compete, the more they become accustomed to the pressure of competition.  A lot of success in these tournaments comes from being able to focus mentally and handle the distraction of shooting on a line with 39 other archers.”

Coach Mike Thomas of the Cameron High School Archery Team added, “Without their support and others like them, this club wouldn’t exist.  With their help we’ve purchased more equipment that will allow us to host our own tournaments.”

The Marshall County Archery Program has partnered with Whitetails Unlimited previously to provide youth bow shooting opportunities at the Grand Vue Park Fall Festival and the Marshall County Co-op’s Deer & Wildlife Expo.

The West Virginia 1st Mountaineer chapter was founded in 2002, is based in Wheeling, and helps throughout the state and especially the northern panhandle.  More information about the West Virginia 1st Mountaineer chapter can be found by visiting facebook.com/WV1whitetails.
