Since its inception in 2016, the Marshall County Childhood Cancer Awareness Corporation has donated $130,000 to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). The group co-funds a research project, through ALSF, that is currently conducting clinical trials for new and safer treatment for children with relapsed leukemia after a stem cell transplant.
Tuesday evening during the Board of Education meeting at McNinch Primary School, members of the Marshall County Childhood Cancer Awareness
Corporation showed Marshall County Schools their appreciation for being a big participant in their endeavor each year.
The group presented Marshall County Schools Superintendent Dr. Shelby Haines with a certificate and a banner, thanks to a grant from Chevron, commending the school district for the $15,417 that was raised by the administration, faculty, staff and students in 2019.
Each of the 13 county schools has already received a certificate of appreciation. Together the two organizations are making a difference.
