What Is TSA?

TSA stands for Technology Student Association. It is an organization  for anyone, and this organization opens up doors for every student. You have the chance to make a handful new of friends from all over your state and even across the globe, all while you learn about the ever growing technological world! In this organization you can compete in many competitions ranging from video game design to VEX robotics, and many even take the opportunity to compete in contests that are not as technologically advanced such as chapter team, a parliamentary procedure contest and essays on technology where all of the information you need is given to you. Here in West Virginia TSA our body is made up of approximately 300+ students!

The TSA creed

I believe that Technology Education holds an important place in my life in the technical world. I believe there is a need for the development of good attitudes concerning work, tools, materials, experimentation, and processes of industry. Guided by my teachers, artisans from industry, and my own initiative, I will strive to do my best in making my school, community, state, and nation better places in which to live. I will accept the responsibilities that are mine. I will accept the theories that are supported by proper evidence. I will explore on my own for safer, more effective methods of working and living. I will strive to develop a cooperative attitude and will exercise tact and respect for other individuals. Through the work of my hands and mind, I will express my ideas to the best of my ability. I will make it my goal to do better each day the task before me, and to be steadfast in my belief in my God, and my fellow Americans.

John Marshall TSA

John Marshall High School TSA is a very dedicated group of students . Our chapter may be very small, but we love every moment that we spend together. Our Chapter Adviser does everything possible to help the members when he can, even if it is not TSA related, and we can not thank him enough for that. The main competition that John Marshall focuses on is chapter team. Even with all of the hard work and dedication the team still finds time to goof off and be what we like to call the six best friends. The members that are active in our chapter are always trying to encourage other students to join the organization that changed our lives so maybe it can change their life too.

Leadership Opportunities

John Marshall TSA has boundless leadership opportunities. One of the many opportunities is being independent while still being on a team. Many of John Marshall's TSA students complete a majority of their projects and competitions without seeking assistance from the adviser. Another major opportunity is ability to run for a state office position. With this position an individual will learn many leadership skills and other general life skills that will be transferred into future everyday life. With these many opportunities the chapter hopes to see a rise in membership because every student deserves a chance to show their skills and learn leadership qualities.

Community Service

The students involved in TSA at John Marshall High School enjoy volunteering and helping the community whenever possible; however, we are still students that have homework for AP classes, study sessions to attend, and some are even taking on the responsibility of a job. We have many members that have conflicting schedules, we take it upon ourselves to complete community service projects individually, while still representing TSA. Our members enjoy participating in community service that they feel will have an extremely positive impact in the community. Our members enjoy roadside cleanup and even assisting local police officers wash their patrol cars.

Awards

Due to John Marshall being such a small chapter, the school has received no awards.

Instead here is our state conference awards in 2015-2016!
