Marcella Rejonis
Following high school graduation, I worked at PPG Industries. Gary Prout and I were married in 1964. Gary was in the Air Force and stationed at Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, NH . Gary found us a great apartment: our address was 1 Ocean Boulevard, right there on the coast - - - quite a change from Highland Avenue, Moundsville. Gary was transferred to Spain and England and various other points. I transferred to Highland Avenue and PPG.
After his discharge, we became the parents of three children (two girls, one boy) and the owners of a home and an Irish Setter named Tara . After becoming parents, I again resigned my job at PPG and spent my time raising three adorable (of course “adorable”) kids.
In 1977 we relocated to Ohio and after getting the children settled at St. John’s Grade and High Schools, I began working for Attorney Esther Pinsky. She enrolled me in a legal course sponsored by the Ohio State Bar. I eventually left Esther’s practice and began working in Wheeling . During this time, still with three kids in school, I began night school and although I worked 40 hours in Wheeling and for Esther on weekends, I eventually graduated the Paralegal Studies program. After graduation, Charlie Hughes offered to double my salary and, what do you know, I am back in Moundsville! I worked (and worked and worked) for Charlie until he had that dastardly stroke in May 1996. I stayed at his office for 18 months following his stroke, closing his business, transferring files, etc. I was impressed and very appreciative that many attorneys came to the office to help. Charlie was a well respected attorney and his legal expertise highly regarded.
In the meantime, our three kids grew up, got married, and provided Gary and me with six (three girls, three boys) grandkids. They are such a blessing! I cannot believe how much I love and enjoy them!
After closing Charlie's practice, I went to work for Jim Bordas, WV’s most successful attorney, as a paralegal and trial assistant. My picture, along with 20-30 other employees, appeared on the back of your---well, several local---phone books for years. I retired from Bordas & Bordas and now spend my time first with my family, then with volunteer work (Head Start, Sacred Heart Church, children’s ministry, IRS tax prep, Belmont Community Hospital).
That’s it! My bio is short; my memories are long.
