Wheeling YWCA Cultural Diversity and Community Outreach Director Ron Scott was one of the guest speakers during Moundsville Middle School’s Partners in Prevention program Wednesday. The topic was acceptance.

He shared personal stories and life experiences and how each of them was a learning experience. Scott told students there are three types of acceptance: of ourselves, of others and of circumstance. He encouraged the sixth graders he spoke with to look at another person’s perspective, and that will help them understand what someone might being going through in life. That can bring people together.

The MMS Partners in Prevention is a year-long program and will cover other topics such as cyberbullying, making good choices and substance abuse.
