Moundsville Middle School students, under the direction of Art teacher Tabetha Morgan, collaborated with Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex Cultural Program Coordinator Andrea Keller to create a unique, interactive art installation.

Each Studio Art student designed and created a golf course hole as part of the newly created Marble Golf Course. First, the students learned about the basic construction of a golf course during several classroom lessons. The next step was to use their knowledge to design a small golf course by using repurposed boxes, which previously housed pamphlet displays, supplied by Keller. The student-fabricated tabletop fairways, hazards and corresponding putting greens give a new meaning to the game of “miniature” golf.

The 10-hole, Par 3 Marble Golf Course will be placed throughout the museum complex and will be open to the public beginning on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 2:00 pm. While no tee time reservations are needed to play, the exhibit will be open from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm every Tuesday through Saturday, except holidays, and will be on display until the end of January. Questions can be directed to Keller at 304-843-4128.

Guests who complete the Marble Golf Course will win a complimentary bag of marbles from the Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex.
