CTE

John Marshall has colourful selection of CTE classes ranging from Business and Accounting to trade programs such as Welding and Drafting to the more closeted classes such as Prostart and Broadcasting.  All of the CTE courses are two year programs and will start your junior year of high school.

Broadcasting

The students that are going into this program are able to begin taking their classes as early as sophomore year. There is also many benefits such as, learning everything that a real news station does. They also do outside productions for instance Queen of Queens and Dancing with the Ohio Valley Stars.  When outside people see this and the names behind it they treat them with respect.

Courses

Sophomore year you are able to take Video Editing and Digital Imaging. Junior year you are able to take Fundamentals of Broadcasting and Radio Broadcasting. And Senior year you take a two period class where you are able to report your own stories, get interviews, and then edit the video into any video format. They also put on a weekly newscast ran by the senior students. Out of all of the local schools, John Marshall students are the best prepared for college and the workforce.

Becoming A Completer

To become a completer in the Broadcasting program you must have completed Fundamentals of Broadcasting, Radio Broadcasting, Television Production Applications, Broadcast Management, and Live TV.

Business Marketing/ Accounting

The students in this program are able to begin taking the classes as early as freshman year.  While taking these courses they are also able to participate in several simulated workplaces, such as the "Monarch Market". As well as the daily courses, we provide many extracurricular programs such as Future Business Leaders of America, WV Business Plan Competition, and LifeSmarts Competitions.

Courses

The required courses for the Marketing Management program involve Business and Marketing Essentials, Marketing Principles, and Marketing Applications.

The required courses for the Accounting program involve Accounting I, as well as Accounting II.

Becoming A Completer

To become a completer in the Business Marketing/ Accounting courses you need to have completed Accounting I, Accounting II, Marketing Principles, Marketing Applications, Personal Finance, Computer Applications I, and Computer Applications II.

Computer Repair/ Information Technology

The students in this program are able to begin taking the classes in their junior year. While taking these courses they learn troubleshooting skills, starting with basic problems and progressing to more difficult issues. They will also learn how to maintain operating systems and repair issues pertaining to wireless networks

Courses and Becoming a Completer

To become a completer in the Computer Repair/ Information Technology, the students must complete A+ Essentials, A+ Operating Systems/Networking, Networking Technology 1, and Networking Technology 2.

 

Drafting

The students in this program are able to begin taking classes their freshman year. While taking these course they will learn Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) software, as well as architectural drawing and design.

Courses and Becoming a Completer

To become a completer in the Drafting courses you must complete Fundamentals of Drafting, Drafting Techniques, Mechanical Drafting, and Architectural Drafting.

ProStart

The students in this program will learn culinary techniques as well as management skills. It provides a real-world education and experiences, and builds practical skills.

Courses and Becoming a Completer

To become a completer the students need to have taken ProStart 1 and ProStart 2, with the option of taking Food Prep as well.
