Rick K and the Allnighters Performance Band.
Since there was no home football game scheduled for the 2010 season for the Labor Day Weekend, the Alumni Association elected to
bring in a band to entertain and perform a start to the Homecoming Celebration.
Rick K and the Allnighters from Morgantown, WV were commissioned for this task as a result of Mick Burk's campaigning for their involvement at
John Marshall High School Performing Arts Center auditorium was the site of the event Friday night after the parade and before the Hospitality room opened.
R. Doug Pettit (Class of 1965) served as the Alumni's hospitality person for the band. Doug's experience as a performer aided in understanding what the band needed as well as with his experience at John Marshall High School where he worked with the school's Activity Director Chuck Duckworth
and John Marshall Band Director Mrs. Tracey Filben.
This particular band plays "our" Oldies songs while being very entertaining and encouraging lots of audience participation.
Those that went to the spectacle were entertained and exited very enthusiasticly toward this homecoming being a
celebration of good times with old dear friends from days past.
Several of the songs encouraged audience participation as you can see from the waving hands of the audience during the performance.
The band came into the crowd after the performance to mingle and sell merchandise.
It allowed the crowd to give them thanks and statements of appreciation for their show.
Some stated that it was "a better show than they had seen at other show venues".
Rick worked the crowd.
He dedicated a song to Mrs. Helen Shook Miller (Class of 1946) who was married the longest in the crowd -
then sang a love song to Barbara Scollick Evans. (Class of 1963)
