Boys of Summer
Jim Heath (Class of 1960) started this gathering of the guys that played baseball at the East End Complex during their youth.
Since getting it started a few years ago, it was only natural that another gathering should happen
while the Alumni Association was having their 5 year event.
Players were divided by which "Ward" they played in back in their youth leagues. There are four wards in town
First Ward was on the north side of town, Second Ward and Third Ward were in the center part of town while Fourth Ward was the Southern side of town.
For the "game" First and Second Ward were "against" Third and Fourth Ward. Players were given a chance to bat and see if they could still hit the ball.
Some fielding was done but there was no use running the bases and get someone hurt and spoil the weekend.
There was lots of jokes as well as just good times visiting with other sports friends that had earned the respect as a worthy competitor.
