Free Card Tour

It has been the intention of the Alumni Association to provide alternate and supplementary activities for those attending the Homecoming Celebration during times when there were no specific class activities scheduled. We have several points of interest that also wanted exposure to those returning to the community for the event.
So Lexie Hanket worked with the Marshall County Tourism Committee ( www.marshallcountytourism.com ) to establish a process where those registered for the Alumni events could acquire special  rates to visit  a few points of interest that charged an entrance fee for what they were presenting.
Lexie worked out a deal where the Alumni Association would reimburse, at a reduced rate, all the admission fee for all
those that visited the sites under the identity of a bearer of a Homecoming Celebration Card.
An identify card was created and presented to those that registered as well as some extra cards were made available and sold at different vendors in town for
anyone that wanted to participate in the Free Card Tour. This allowed the whole community to be part of this Homecoming Celebration.
Lexie and Carla Petrucci Garrison from the Marshall County School Board office worked many hours creating the card that showed the MHS building
on one side and the list of tour sites and Rick K and the Allnighters event on the other side.
Each person that was registered or who bought a Card Tour card was given the free pass. Listed below are the places and how many people used the tour card. The committee was really pleased with the way these opportunities were used.
Thanks again to the wisdom and thoughtfulness of Lexie Hanket for coming up with this plan.     Cockayne Farmhouse – 91
Fostoria Museum - 143
Marshall Co Historical Society – 33
Marx Toy Museum –  205

Palace of Gold, Krishna Temple – 14
Strand Theater Restoration – 38

It was the intention of the Alumni Association to include as much of the community as we could in the Homecoming Celebration. All these tour sites agreed to accept a reduced price admission if they would offer a “free tour” to the card holders this weekend. We hoped it would be a win-win situation for the tour sites as well as for those holding the tour cards. We are so pleased to see each site receiving the exposure we intended on this weekend.  We thank the vendors and the Marshall Co. Tourism Committee for allowing this activity to be offered during our Homecoming Celebration 2010. It was our effort to include the whole community in this gathering.
